The wax coats the hairs at the entrance to the ear canal and traps dust and dirt etc. However, when the hairs, that are covered in the wax, are pushed in the wrong direction it causes the wax to be compacted together and then pushed further down in the ear canal. This makes it very difficult for the natural cleaning process to occur, resulting in wax build-up. Usually having some wax is not a problem. However, audiologists find too much wax to be tricky! It can make getting accurate results difficult, cause difficulty taking ear impressions, wax can block up the hearing aids and cause hearing aids to whistle. Wax SUCTION removal is the safest way to remove wax.
